COURSE OVERVIEW:
An Articulated Haul Truck is a self-propelled, articulated wheeled machine used within the civil industry. Most Articulated Haul Trucks are six-wheel drives and consist of two basic units: the front section, generally called the tractor, and the rear section, called the tipping body section. The primary purpose of an Articulated Haul Truck is to move material around construction sites. For an Articulated Haul Truck to be used economically and safely, the operator must receive adequate training. This course describes the skills and knowledge required to Conduct Articulated Haul Truck Operations in the Resources and Infrastructure Industries.
COURSE OUTLINE:
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) certifies your skills gained throughout your work and life experiences, and it does not necessarily include work or formal training here in Australia. The RPL approach avoids duplication of training allowing you to reduce the time required to obtain your qualification, in some circumstances you may not be required to study at all.
For example, a person who has operated heavy machinery within the Civil or Mining industry for several years would have developed skills to match a full unit of competency allowing the student to use the RPL method. In some cases a student cannot provide sufficient evidence to allow the approval of RPL, in these circumstances, gap training is required to demonstrate that the student has the skills and knowledge within the industry they are applying for RPL.
HOW OUR PROCESS WORKS:
Step 1 - Skills
We will allocate an experienced trainer that will discuss with you your previous experiences so that we can help you choose the correct qualification or units of competency that matches your skills, and guide you to achieve your goals.
Step 2 - Evidence
We will give you an RPL kit which will allow you to provide us with as much evidence as you can, such as but not limited to: current resume, student self-assessment, third party report, reference letters, work examples, VOC’s, workplace observations, rosters, timesheets for evidence of frequency, payslips, logbooks, photos, videos and any other evidence that will show your trainer your skills and knowledge within the industry you are applying for RPL.
Step 3 - Validation
Your trainer will review your RPL kit and the evidence provided. Your trainer will have a conversation with yourself and your third-party referee, and then conduct the final checks to confirm and validate the information you have provided is current. Please note: at the trainer's discretion; further evidence may be required before Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is issued.
Step 4 - Recognised
Congratulations! All evidence has been checked, confirmed and validated. You will receive a nationally recognised statement of attainment that will be issued by our partnered Registered Training Organisation.
COURSE DURATION:
This is a self-paced course, the time limit is up to you. Once the RPL Kit and evidence have been supplied to your trainer, the marking can be completed within a business day.
LICENSING REGULATION:
Load shifting equipment (other than a Forklift) are no longer required to have a licence, however an operator must still be deemed competent.
QUALIFICATION OUTCOME:
Successful students receive a "Statement of Attainment", and a wallet-sized operator card, which is recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework.
